Wolmer’s retain Walker Cup
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Wolmer’s Boy’s High School won the Walker Cup 4-2 on penalties over Excelsior Thursday afternoon at the Constant Spring field in St Andrew.
Wolmer’s were forced to play extra time in a major schoolboy football final the second time in less than a week after ending regulation time at 1-1.
Wolmer’s opened the scoring in the 37th minute but XLCR drew level in the 76th to send the game into extra time.
After a tiring Manning Cup final on Saturday, which Wolmer’s lost 3-2 to Jamaica College, the Inter Secondary Sports Association (ISSA) rescheduled the Walker Cup final to Thursday to allow recovery for the boys from Heroes Circle.
Wolmer’s also went into extra time in the Manning Cup semi final match.
