THE awesome prospect of the eminent trainer Philip Feanny becoming the first to win all three legs of the ultra-rich Supreme Ventures Two-Year-Old Series with a single runner gathers momentum when the 14-time champion conditioner go for win number two in the Series with his brilliant filly Princess Popstar in the ninth running of the Pick3 Super Challenge Trophy for a purse of $3,600,000 at Caymanas Park today.

The second leg in the SVL Two-Year-old Series, the Pick3 Super Challenge is a Graded Stakes race for native-bred two-year-olds that has attracted a field of eight going 1,400 metres that is set to highlight the day’s 11-race card.

It is race 10 on the programme and is set to go to post at approximately 4:35 pm with first post at 12:05 pm.

Feanny, despite his eminence, has won this two-year-old race only once before in the year 2008 with Bruceontheloose. However, since then he has been in the doldrums while his distinguished apprentice, leading and champion trainer Wayne DaCosta, has won twice afterwards, having had his The Gummer beaten by a narrow margin by Bruceontheloose.

Today’s event looks again to be a race involving the two champion conditioners, who share between them 27 trainers championships. DaCosta will saddle two runners like Feanny, but Insane Bolt who finished second to Princess Popstar in the first leg Cash Pot Only One For me Trophy, is his major trump card.

However, with the promise shown by Princess Popstar as it was with Bruceontheloose, the expectation is that Princess Popstar will come out on top once again and leave the rest of the field to dispute for the minor shares.

From her past performances and preparation coming into her toughest race for the season it is hard to oppose Princess Popstar, especially when her rider the legendary Winston Griffiths has gone public by stating unequivocally that this is the finest piece of talent that the also legendary Feanny has had in his possession in many moons.

If this were so, then the 2Penyu-owned bay filly bred by Ham Stables, by Adore The Gold out of Doc’ Paladin and shooting from barrier #8 should have little problem putting away this field.

To add to her pre-eminence, Princess Popstar will have the distinct advantage of watching the rest of the field from that outside draw. That simply means only an act of the most unforeseen could prevent this talented filly maintaining her undefeated status.

Insane Bolt, that will exit barrier #6 with jockey Dick Cardenas aboard, will be in a passion to bide his time to make his move when Griffiths asks his charge to mount her challenge, while the Shuffling Madness dark bay colt Israelite, ridden by Dane Nelson, will have to make serious adjustment to be competitive after exiting from Barrier #1.
