MARTHA BRAE, Trelawny — William Knibb Memorial could join defending champions Muschett High in the semi-finals of the ISSA/KFC Western Conference High School Boys Under-19 basketball competition with a win over neighbours Holland High this afternoon.

William Knibb are in second place on seven points, three behind Muschett High who won their fifth-straight game on Wednesday, beating Herbert Morrison Technical 60-52, sweeping their games as they also won the Under 16 game.

Herbert Morrison were playing away game on back to back days after travelling to Spot Valley High on Tuesday.

The seven teams in the competition are playing each other just once in the first round, with the top four on points advancing to the semi-finals set to be played early January.

Despite having to play two games in two days, Herbert Morrison came back from a first-quarter deficit to lead Muschett by two points 27-25 at the half-time break.

As they did against Cornwall College on Monday, Muschett dominated the second half, outscoring the Montego Bay team by 10 points 35-25 as Michael Schloss had a triple double 22 points, 13 steals and 11 assists with Alston Billings also scoring 10 points in the winning effort.

Ralique Grant and David Peck both scored 18 points for Herbert Morrison.

In the Under-16 game Muschett rebounded from their loss at Cornwall College on Monday to score a comfortable come from behind 18 points victory 59-41 despite a triple double from Herbert Morrison’s Brendon Dawkins.

Herbert Morrison got off to the better start and led 13-7 after the first quarter, but were held to just four points in the second quarter when the home team took over and led 29-17 at half-time before going on for their third win of the season and joined Spot Valley High on eight points at the top of the tables.

Muschett’s Altan Ricketts led all scorers with 29 points while Damaine Thorpe scored 17 points.

Dawkins scored 21 points, had 11 rebounds and 10 steals for Herbert Morrison.
