UPDATE: Attorney, co-accused offered $10 million bail each
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The attorney-at-law slapped with money laundering charges Thursday and her three co-accused were offered $10 million bail each, when they appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court this morning.
Fifty-five-year-old attorney-at-law Dawn Satterswaite was charged along with Paulette Higgins, 53-year-old of Norman Gardens, Kingston 2; Janet Ramsay, 50 year-old of Bridgeport, Portmore, St Catherine, and Ann Marie Cleary, 40-year-old of Woodlawn, Manchester, for breaches of the Proceeds of Crime Act.
They are to return to court on February 18, 2014 and are to report to the police every Monday until their court date.
The attorney’s Duke Street, Kingston office was raided by the police Tuesday, part of an islandwide operation in collaboration with the Financial Investigative Division of the Ministry of Finance (FID).
The three women charged along with the attorney are said to be relatives of convicted drug trafficker, Andrew Hamilton, who was arrested in California, USA. Hamilton is to be sentenced in February 2014.
