Harthy Jr’s five-for propels Nelson’s XI to victory
PATRICK Harthy Jr proved too good with the ball as his five-wicket haul assisted Donovan Nelson’s XI to a 19-run victory over John Campbell’s XI in yesterday’s trial match at Sabina Park.
Batting first, Nelson’s XI piled up a total of 207-9 from 50 overs, which saw Nkrumah Bonner topscoring with 68 from 101 balls, including five fours and a six. He got support from David Bernard Jr, who made 29, and Kennar Lewis with 26.
Akeem Dwyer took three wickets for 44 runs from his 10 overs, which included a maiden.
In reply, John Campbell’s XI were bundled out for 188 with the captain leading the way with 38, backed by Andre McCarty, 27, and James Merchant with 21 not out.
Yannick Elliott also chipped in with 21. Patrick Harthy Jr hauled in five wickets for 26 runs from 7.3 overs, which included two maidens, and Tamar Lambert with two wickets for 30 runs from his 10 overs, inclusive of a maiden.
The 45-man squad returns to regular training today and it will include senior wicketkeeper/batsman Carlton Baugh Jr, who has been exonerated by the three-man Jamaica Cricket Association disciplinary panel.
