Frassman calling girls to dancefloor
AMERICAN-BASED Jamaican deejay Frassman feels a lot is in store for him in 2014. The artiste is currently in the island to shoot the video for his soon-to-be released single Go Down and Wine. Filming begins tomorrow.
“It’s a song that encourages the females to get up and dance. It’s a ‘movement’ song,” Frassman told the Jamaica Observer. The track, produced by NS Enterprise and Brown’s Town Production, is scheduled to be released later this month.
Frassman (given name Nicoy Salmon) said Jamaica was the ideal location as he wanted an authentic dancehall feel.
“I want the video to reflect the real dancehall vibes, and I want it to connect with the fans. Therefore, Jamaica was the obvious choice,” he said.
Frassman — who is in his mid-20s and migrated to Hartford, Connecticut in 2002 — said he also found the time to record several tracks since his visit.
He also performed on LIME’s road show in Westmoreland and St Elizabeth late last year. “I think I am off to good start for the rest of the year. I just have to keep up the pace,” he said.
The former Norman Manley High student said his journey to music was inevitable.
“I used to live in Waltham Park area, Kingston 13, and music was always around me. My father had a sound system and my older brother was a singer, who later became a producer. I used to follow him to the studio,” he said.
Frassman said his break came in 1999 when, as a teen, he got a stint on the annual Boxing Day show, Sting. Two years later, he secured a similar stint on Sumfest. His tracks include Bling Bling, Zum Zum, and Weed Head, which features Elephant Man.
