JANAURY

The Legend of Hercules

Hercules, after learning about his greater purpose, must choose either to flee with his true love or to fulfil his destiny and become the true hero of his time. Dubbed one of the greatest myths of all time, the story of Hercules is revealed in this action-packed epic — a tale of love, sacrifice and the strength of the human spirit. The cast includes Kellan Lutz, Gaia Weiss, Scott Adkins, and Roxanne McKee.

Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit

Jack (Chris Pine) goes from being a junior analyst for the CIA to becoming a spy as he uncovers evidence of an impending terrorist attack. He finds he must fight to save his own life and those of countless others, while also trying to protect the thing that’s most important to him, his relationship with fiancée Cathy (Keira Knightley). Ryan learns to navigate the world of intelligence, fend off assassins, and address the potential breakdown of his marriage.

The Nut Job

Set in the fictional city of Oakton, the mischievous Surly Squirrel (voiced by Will Arnett) plans a nut store heist of outrageous proportions and gets caught up in a convoluted ‘bank’ heist.

Surly, a curmudgeon, independent squirrel is banned from his park and forced to survive in the city. He and his rat friend, Buddy (Robert Tinkler), find themselves in an adventure that might ultimately save their park community before the winter weather comes around. The movie is animated and is sure to pull a laugh out of the whole family.

The Adventurer: The Curse of the Midas Box

This is a fantasy/adventure film based on the novel Mariah Mundi. Main character,17-year-old Mariah Mundi’s parents vanish and his younger brother is kidnapped, but has no choice but to join forces with the enigmatic Captain Will Charity — who has also lost his family. The adventure leads them to the amazing Prince Regent, an enormous steam-powered hotel. With the fate of his world and his family at stake, Mariah must unravel the secrets of the hotel and the Curse of the Midas Box. The cast includes Sam Neil, Michael Sheen and Lena Headey and is already released.

Life of a King

This drama sees a return to the big screen for Cuba Gooding Jr. This movie features the true story of an ex-con, Eugene Brown (Gooding Jr) who begins a chess club after daring introductory chess lessons. The group is highlighted by unruly high school students in detention. From the development of the club and the teens’ local chess competitions, this movie reveals the difficult story of Eugene Brown and how he transformed troublesome kids into chess champions. Slated for release in mid-January.

FEBRUARY

The LEGO Movie

This is the first-ever, full-length theatrical LEGO adventure and follows the story of Emmet (voice of Chriss Pratt) who is portrayed as an ordinary LEGO mini-figure who is mistaken as the one who will be able to save the LEGO universe. However, with the help of Vitruvirus (Morgan Freeman), Wyldstyle (Elizabeth Banks) and Batman (Will Arnett) he learns he can indeed defeat Lord Business (Will Ferrell), save the LEGO universe, and even recreate it. The animated adventure film is set to be released in the first week of February.

Welcome To Yesterday

This movie which is set for release at the end of February, is centred on the creation of a time machine by high schoolers. The blueprint and parts to create this time machine was not initially intended for the group, however. After enjoying the thrills of time travel, things begin to get out of control. The teens are now tasked to ensure everything goes back to normal. Stars most notably include Jonny Weston and Sofia Black-D’Elia.

Winter’s Tale

Another supernatural drama film, it is set in a mythical New York City and spans more than a century. It follows a thief, Peter Lake (Colin Farrell) who is brought to know love by Beverly Penn (Jessica Brown-Findlay), a dying lady who happens to live in a house Peter breaks into. Winter’s Tale includes matters of the heart but also the age-old battle between good and evil. The film is set for release in mid-February.

Robocop

Crime has a new enemy… And his name is Robocop! This remake of the awesome 1987 classic portrays America in the year 2028 Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman) turned into a part-man, part-robot police officer by multinational technology giants, OmniCorp after being critically injured by a car-bomb. A loving family man then becomes the face of crime-fighting in Detroit, Michigan. It is expected to hit the right notes at the box offices during the second week of February.

Non-Stop

This is an action-film that is centred around an international flight from New York to London, United Kingdon. On this flight, US federal air marshall, Bill Marks (Liam Neeson) receives text messges about unambiguous threats that states a passenger will be killed at a frequent interval or else money is sent to a specific bank account. However, Marks only soon realises that this account is under his name. With a bomb also found on the plane, Marks is branded as a highjacker.

MARCH

Muppets Most Wanted

This is a musical comedy mystery film which takes the entire Muppets gang on a global tour, selling out grand cinemas across European destinations, including Berlin, Madrid and London. But mayhem follows the Muppets overseas, as they find themselves unwittingly entangled in an international crime. The crimes are actually being committed by a doppelganger to Kermit The Frog. The gang find themselves with the near impossible task of trying to drag their name from under the uncertainty cloud.

Need for Speed

EA Games and DreamWork Studios team up to produce what is likely to be a hit among the teenagers throughout this spring. Star character, Tobey Marshall (Aaron Paul) enters a cross-country race in an attempt to avenge the death of his best friend Pete. Marshall, having just been released from prison, draws reluctantly on his fellow mechanics to help him develop a vehicle that will defy all the odds and defeat the ex-NASCAR driver that framed him.

Mr Peabody & Sherman

The film features Mr Peabody, a talking dog who is the smartest being in the world, and his adopted boy Sherman. When Sherman’s misuse of their time travelling WABAC machine, without permission, results in disastrous and comical results, it is up to them to put things on track before the space-time continuum is irreparably destroyed. Emmy award winner Ty Burrell is the voice of Mr Peabody, while Max Charles plays the voice of Sherman.

APRIL

Earth to Echo

When a group of young friends begin to receive bizarre encrypted messages on their cellphones, they embark on an incredible adventure to discover the meaning behind these communications. Soon enough, they realise that the messages they are receiving are from a mysterious being from another world — one who desperately needs their help. The film is one that teens should look forward and might create a surprise or to at the box offices.

Heaven Is For Real

Heaven Is For Real is the story of a four-year-old son of a small town Nebraska pastor, who experienced Heaven during emergency surgery. In Heaven, Colton met his miscarried sister, whom no one ever had told him about and his great-grandfather, who died 30 years before Colton was born. He shared impossible-to-know details about each. Told by the Colton’s father often in Colton’s own words, but there are people who will not believe Colton or his family, the disarmingly simple message is that heaven is a real place, Jesus really loves children, and to be ready… there is a coming last battle.

Rio 2

Rio 2 finds Jewel (Anne Hathaway), Blu (Jesse Eisenberg) and their three kids leaving their domesticated life in that magical city for a journey to the Amazon. They encounter a menagerie of characters who are born to be wild.

MAY

The Amazing Spider-Man 2

For Peter Parker, life is busy. Between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves. In this blockbuster Peter Parker battles Electro (Jamie Foxx).

Belle

Belle is inspired by the true story of Dido Elizabeth Belle (Gugu Mbatha-Raw), the illegitimate mixed race daughter of a Royal Navy Admiral.

Legends of Oz: Dorothy’s Return

Back in Kansas, Dorothy Gale decides to return to Oz in order to help her friends.How will Dorothy and her new companions work together in a seemingly disastrous time to restore Oz to the place we all know and love?

X-Men: Days of Future Past

The story is partially set in an alternate future where surviving mutants have been penned in concentration camps, giant robots called Sentinels patrol America, and most of the X-Men have been hunted and killed. In the present day, the X-Men were forced to stop a key event from unfolding in order to keep that future from occurring.

Maleficent

Bent on revenge, Maleficent faces an epic battle with the invading king’s successor and, as a result, places a curse upon his newborn infant Aurora. As the child grows, Maleficent realises that Aurora holds the key to peace in the kingdom — and perhaps to Maleficent’s true happiness as well.

JUNE

How to Train Your Dragon 2

The heroic Viking Hiccup and his faithful dragon Toothless must protect the peace — and save the future of men and dragons from the power-hungry Drago.

Transformers 4: Age of Extinction

The fourth instalment of the Michael Bay-directed franchise sees a group of powerful, ingenious businessmen and scientists attempt to push the boundaries of technology beyond what they can control and understand. The epic adventure and battle between good and evil, freedom and enslavement ensues.

The Fault In Our Stars

A teenage girl stricken with cancer falls for a boy in her support group and the two form a bond as they deal with their illnesses.

AUGUST

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

The reboot story centres on the turtle crime fighters, which include Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello and Raphael, as well as their master Splinter. Rumored to involve the return of Shredder.

When the Game Stands Tall

A sports drama film about the record-setting 151 game of the 1992-2003 high school football winning streak by De La Salle High School of Concord, CA.

Lucy

Centres on a woman forced to become a drug mule. But the drug instead goes into her system, transforming her into an ass-kicking machine. She can absorb knowledge instantaneously, is able to move objects with her mind and can’t feel pain and other discomforts

The Hero of Color City

The Hero of Color City chronicles the adventures of a diverse band of crayons that come alive in a little boys room when he drifts off to sleep. Yellow (voiced by Christina Ricci), a timid and fearful crayon, inadvertently awakens two unfinished drawings that threaten to take over Color City, and must set off on an adventure that leads her to discover inner strength and courage she never knew she had.

SEPTEMBER

The Boxtrolls

An orphaned boy raised by underground creatures called Boxtrolls comes up from the sewers and out of his box to save his family and the town from the evil exterminator, Arichibald Snatcher.

Dolphin Tale 2

Dolphin Tale 2 tells another true story inspired by the life of the rescued bottle nose dolphin, Winter, this time involving a new baby dolphin named Hope who was also saved and rehabilitated by the Clearwater Marine Aquarium in 2010.

A Matter of Faith

A Christian girl goes off to college for her freshman year and begins to be influenced by her popular Biology professor who teaches that evolution is the answer to the origins of life.

OCTOBER

Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day

Follows a boy, Alexander, who wakes up and things just go badly for Alexander all day long. From gum that ends up in his hair, to being criticized for his invisible picture by his teacher to not getting dessert in his lunch bag. Alexander just does not seem to be able to catch a break.

Dracula Untold

The first vampire was once a young prince who risked his soul to save his wife and child from a bloodthirsty sultan

NOVEMBER

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1

The Capitol is angry. The Capitol wants revenge. President Snow makes it clear that no one is safe either — not Katniss’s family, not her friends and not the people of District 12.

Big Hero 6

A computer-animated super hero film set in a fictional city called San Fransokyo. Hiro Hamada, the young prodigy, and his self-created robot, Baymax, uncover a criminal plot and must join a team of inexperienced crime fighters.

Home

The movie tells of a friendly alien race that invades Earth and begins to efficiently reorganise the planet. But one resourceful girl (voiced by Rihanna) manages to escape and finds herself teamed up with a banished alien named Oh (voiced by Jim Parsons). The two fugitives find themselves on a postapocalyptic road trip with intergalactic stakes.

DECEMBER

Paddington

A talking bear is adopted by a London family when they find him lost at Paddington Station.

The Hobbit: There and Back Again

The trilogy is set in Middle-earth 60 years before Tolkien’s The Lord Of The Rings.

Night at the Museum 3

Ben Stiller returns as security guard Larry Daley as the actions moves to London, England. Robin Williams will return as Teddy Roosevelt.

Into the Woods

Surrounds a baker and his wife’s quest to break a witch’s curse in order to start a family.
