Della Manley, Peter Lloyd for Jazz Fest
FLORENCE HALL, Trelawny — ACCLAIMED singer/songwriter Della Manley and veteran performer Peter Lloyd are two western Jamaican-based artistes booked to perform at Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival scheduled for January 30 to February 1 at the Trelawny Multi-purpose Stadium.
Della, who has opened for Roberta Flack at Jazz in Ocho Rios, is no stranger to the Jamaica Jazz and Blues stage. She has also guest starred on Tarrus Riley’s “Family”.
She won the 1998 Jamaica Federation of Musicians Award for excellence (Adult Contemporary).
Della, who is set to appear on Jazz on Saturday, February 1, now performs regularly on the North Coast.
Peter Lloyd , who will be performing on Friday, January 31, is renowned for a string of hits including, Wake Dem Up, U Magnet, Ready 4 Luv, Walk Through Fire, Searching, among others.
He has performed before at the Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival, as well as other shows, including New Kingston Street Jam, Sting, Rebel Salute, Pepsi Teen Splash and Western Consciousness.
Meanwhile, big-name Jamaican acts, including Beres Hammond, Marcia Griffiths, Chalice and Moses Davis, who performs under the stage name Beenie Man, as well as major American singers Chaka Khan, Toni Braxton, Aaron Neville, Crystal Gayle, Chrisette Michele, and Joe are all booked for the 18th staging of the festival.
Young reggae sensations Chronixx, Protoje and soulful performer Christopher Martin are also billed to perform at the highly
anticipated event.
