THE 22nd staging of the Bob Marley Birthday Bash, ended on a high note with outstanding performances on the final night at the MX111 Lawn in Negril, Westmoreland.
Staged February 1-6, the festival which started Saturday, February 1 with Tribute Night, also featured Punky Reggae Party,Rastafari Nyabinghi Presentation, Icons of Reggae and ended with Celebrations on Thursday, February 6.
The final night, which coincided with the birthday of late reggae icon, Bob Marley, was highlighted by the performance of reggae queen, Marcia Griffiths.
Backed by the SANE Band, she thrilled the crowd, mostly made up of American tourists, with songs such as Kiss You Once More, Dreamland, I Shall Sing, Fire Burning, All My Life, Feel Like Dancing and Electric Slide.

The audience also enjoyed performances from Hezron, Cen’C Love, Prissy G, Ras Charmer and History Man.
Meanwhile opening acts Hefla Nyah, female Japanese dejay Rankine Pumpkin and Asfa were also well received.
Promoter Clive ‘Kubba’ Pringle was satisfied with the staging of the event which was threatened by inclement weather night after night.
“One thing we are proud of is even though we had rain almost each night we were able to carry through with the programme that we promoted,” Pringle told media sponsor, Jamaica Observer West.
“I think we did well with the Rastafari Nyabinghi Night. The addition of Mutabaruka really helped to boost that night.
“Marcia Griffiths who has been performing on this show since its inception is still here and still doing her best. Bob Andy did a good performance on (Icons of Reggae Night) and was given a Lifetime Achievement Award. Another highlight was Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry taking the stage with Marcia Griffiths.”
Pringle also gave glowing praises for sponsors which included the Jamaica Observer, the Jamaica Tourist Board,Nitro, Ezzy Ice, Tent and Events, Mild and Mello Sound and Linkz FM.
