BritJam party series kicks off on March 5
MONTEGO BAY, St James – THE resort city of Montego Bay is set to host the fifth staging of the BritJam Spring Break Festival to be held from March 5-11.
The seven-day event will feature parties and cultural excursions at local attractions.
Some of the planned events include: Colours and Shades, I Love the 90s, Shades, Flesh, Black and White Party, Water Party and Ciroc Blue Waves Party.
About 1,000 spring breakers from America and Britain are expected to fly into Montego Bay for the much –anticipated event.
According to Khorie Hyde, a member of the event’s organising committee, not only is BritJam a source of fun-filled entertainment for the young visitors, but it also serves as a family reunion for second and third generation Jamaicans who migrated to Britain decades ago.
“A lot of them use BritJam as a connection. They reconnect with their family members. For years they have not seen anybody from their second and third generation and when they come to Jamaica they get a chance to,” Hyde remarked.
“BritJam is a reconnection of the diaspora, let us not forget that,” Hyde stressed, noting that the event has been incident-free since its inaugural staging in 2010.
He was speaking at last week’s launch of BritJam held at Sunset Beach Resorts, Spa and Waterpark in Montego Bay.
Major sponsors of the event this year are: Monymusk, Red Bull and Sunset Beach Resorts, Spa and Waterpark.
