HEAVYWEIGHTS Unsquashables suffered a 2-1 upset at the hands of Anonymous as action continued in the KPMG Squash League Tuesday night.

Initially, the Unsquashables had no cause for concern as former senior national player, Joey Levy, beat junior national David Mullings 21/18, 21/11, 19/21, 21/18. However, then All Jamaica and Caribbean Under-15 girls champion and All Jamaica Ladies Champion, Alyssa Mullings, went up against 13-time All Jamaica men’s champion, Wayne Burrowes, the fireworks started.

In a match-up that resembled a shoot-out, Mullings kept her head to prevail 21/7, 21/20, 21/10 over Burrowes, who had to contend with both the determined teenager and an unforgiving handicap.

No doubt buoyed by his teammate’s victory, Steve Mullings then beat Mellisa Lue Yen 21/14, 21/8, 21/15.

Champions of 2012 , the Milex Eagles, suffered a similar fate to the Unsquashables when they went down 2-1 to the less regarded Yellow Dots.

The Eagles got off to a rocky start when Horace Walker beat the more experienced Stephen Steel, 21/14, 21/18, 21/11. However, Jamie Douglas rebounded to beat Jamel Banton 21/17, 15/21, 21/18, 21/18 and gave the former champions a fighting chance.

It was then up to 12-time All Jamaica ladies’ champion, Karen Anderson, to seal the deal, but she lost 10/21, 21/16, 21/18, 21/4 to Gawayne Murdock.

In other action, the UTech Saints posted a comfortable 2-1 win over Y Not Lemons.

Although Natalie Boreland lost 15/21, 19/21, 17/21 to Oneil Johnson, Mario O’Connor beat Deanne Pryce 23/20, 21/14, 21/16 and the Saints pulled even. After that, All Jamaica Under-15 boys’ champion, Tahjia Lumley beat Pete Walker 21/17, 21/17, 21/19 to wrap things up for the Saints.
