UPDATE: Police release names of escapees from Santa Cruz lock-up

ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica — The police have released the names of the four prisoners who escaped from the Santa Cruz police lock-up in St Elizabeth on Saturday morning.

They are: 21-year-old Ryan Thomas of Leeds district, who is facing a murder charge; 31-year-old Entley Smith of Haughton district, who is also facing a murder charge; Nicolas Mason, 21, of Elderslie district, who was arrested for robbery; and Elrado Turner, 22, of Burnt Ground, who was arrested for housebreaking.

Reports are that some time between 3:00 am and 5:00 am, the prisoners escaped by cutting a passage grille after somehow managing to open the door of their cell.

The police are at this time urging the men to turn themselves in and also urging residents and the relatives of these men to refrain from providing a safe haven for them.
