Health march for old capital on Sunday
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — The Seventh-day Adventist Church in central Jamaica will on Sunday (March 2) host a march and health expo in the old capital of Spanish Town, St Catherine, in a bid to raise the awareness of residents about “healthy lifestyle principles that bring health, happiness and healing”.
Director of communication, public affairs and religious liberty at the Central Jamaica Conference (CJC) of Seventh-day Adventists Kemar Douglas told OBSERVER ONLINE on Saturday that it is not their first march or run that is focused on health, but it is the first time the body is “trying to actually have such an impact directly one the old capital of the country”.
The march is set to begin at 8:00 am at the Sagicor Centre in the heart of the old capitol and will culminate at the CJC building at 58 Brunswick Avenue with a health expo. Douglas said community members can come out to get free medical checks, including blood pressure, diabetes and HIV tests.
Minister of Health Dr Fenton Ferguson is expected to be the main speaker at the event.
