Racquil Broderick of the University of Southern California (USC) won the men’s discus throw with 62.80m at the Big 10 Outdoor track and field championships that ended at the University of Nebraska on Sunday.

It was a major improvement for the Jamaican, who finished ninth at last year’s Big10 championships and fourth at last year’s NCAA Outdoor Championships.

Meanwhile, Janela Spencer of Ohio State University was second in the 100m hurdles after she ran a wind-aided 12.52 seconds (4.9m/s).

Kobe Lawrence of the University of Oregon was fourth in the men’s shot put with 19.66m; Rhianna Phipps of Nebraska was fifth in the women’s triple jump with a wind-aided 13.29m (4.7m/s) and Waukeem Walters of the University of Minnesota was seventh in the men’s long jump wit 7.56m (-0.6m/s).

Britannia Johnson of Purdue was sixth in the women’s discus throw with a personal best 55.06m. Her twin sister, Britannie also threw a personal best 54.60m for seventh place and moved up to fourth best all time at Purdue, one spot behind her sister.

Britannie was also seventh in the women’s shot put with 16.62m and finished 10th in the hammer throw.

Kitania Headley of Minnesota ran a personal best 58.62 seconds to place seventh in the women’s 400m hurdle.

Kimola Hinds of the University of Louisiana retained her women’s discus throw title at the Sunbelt Conference Championships held in Mobile, Alabama, throwing 54.77m. Her teammate, Mark Daley ran a personal best 20.62 seconds (0.6m/s) for second place in the men’s 200m, third best in school history. Daley was also sixth in the 100m final in 10.41 seconds (2.0m/s).
Javel Fullerton of Southern Missouri was third in the men’s 400m hurdles with 50.88 seconds.

Jazmyn James of the University of Memphis, who had won the women’s shot put at the American Conference on Friday, was second in the discus throw on Saturday with a personal best 54.93m.

Fabrienne Foster of North Texas was sixth with 50.37m, also her personal best.

Shakiel Dacres of East Carolina finished fourth in the men’s discus throw, same position as the shot put a day earlier, throwing 58.51m.

Zachary Cox of Boston University was third in the men’s 200m at the Patriot League Championships, running a wind-aided 20.92 seconds (2.5m/s) after placing fifth in the 100m in 10.51 seconds (2.1m/s).
