Melbourne, Lilliput hunt lad in St James Senior League football
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Melbourne FC and Lilliput Rovers could be tied for the lead in their respective zones later today as the second round of the St James Football Association Sandals/ATL/Honda Senior League get under way with three games, all set to start at 3:00 pm.
Both teams are three points behind the leaders and a win today would see then at least be joint leaders on points.
Melbourne FC are on eight points in Zone A after losing to leaders Reggae Youths on Friday at Jarrett Park and will face Seaview FC at Albion.
Lilliput Rovers, who will face Little Miami at Westgreen are in third place in Zone B on six points, two behind Revelation FC and three behind Violet Kickers.
Both first round games had ended in 2-2 draws.
In the other game, Montego Bay United Under-21 will seek to avenge their first-round loss to Catherine Hall when they meet at Wespow Park.
Catherine Hall had edged MBU Under-21 in the opening game and after winning their first two games, have only managed one point since then.
MBU Under-21 have not done much better and have just three points from three drawn games.
At Albion, Melbourne FC are coming off a bad tempered loss to Reggae Youths and will hope to take advantage of last-placed Seaview, whose only point came in their first-round meeting
with Melbourne.
Since their first meeting Seaview have lost their next four games by an aggregate 15-3 and are at the bottom of the points table in Zone A.
Lilliput Rovers, who were runners up to Seaview FC in the Division One last season, have had a better season so far in the Senior League, despite having just one win, but are mid table in Zone B and could move past Revelation FC today with a win.
