‘Busha’ was a father figure to many
LAST Sunday dozens of mourners turned out at the Elim Gospel Hall at Shortwood Road in St Andrew to say their final farewell to Durrant Davis, affectionately called ‘Busha’.
Davis died last month after a battle with illness.
He was 74 years old.
Known as an avid skittles player Davis was remembered as a stickler for discipline and a father figure.
Davis’s close friend and fellow Rowe’s Strikers club member, Lukel Patterson, recalled that he was a dependable individual that anyone would want for a friend.
“Busha was one of the most dependable persons you think of. Durrant Davis was always there. He was a leader, a motivator, and transformer. I respect Busha as my brother,” Patterson said.
Davis was a towering individual who stood over six feet tall and was remembered for his infectious smile and pleasant disposition.
“I am proud to have been his friend. He was a disciplinarian, who did not put up with foolishness, but he had a good heart and even though we had our spats it never went over into tomorrow morning,” the Jamaica Observer’s Karyl Walker said in tribute to Davis.
The remains of Durrant Augustas Davis were interred at the Meadowrest Memorial Gardens in St Catherine.
