KINGSTON, Jamaica — After only a year in Kingston, Caribbean Producers Jamaica (CPJ) Market, Deli and CRU operations at the Courtyard complex on Lady Musgrave Road, has won the heart of the city’s residents for its customer appreciation.

“No customer is too small for us,” reads the brochure inviting Kingstonians to use the new one-stop service, which has set the tone for new commercial complexes across the city and sharing what Montego Bay has been experiencing for the past two decades with the capital city.

CPJ’s chairman, Mark Hart, says that the success of  the company’s Kingston investments, is primarily due to the support of a loyal clientele.

According to him, “the concept is the next generation of our popular CPJ Market located at Montego Freeport”.

“And as, we celebrate our first anniversary (in Kingston) we wish to thank our clients and suppliers for supporting CPJ Market, CPJ Deli and CRU Bar. Their reviews have been overwhelmingly positive and motivate us to continuously strive to exceed expectations,” Hart told the Jamaica Observer.

Since opening its doors in Kingstonin December 2012 , the Deli has become a sort of Starbucks for Kingstonians needing a coffee and sandwich break. The open air CRU bar and lounge has become one of Kingston’s trendiest social spots, and the CPJ Market provides the highest quality household items for businesses, as well as individual customers, in close reach.

“We put a lot of work into making it just right, and the response so far indicates that the people appreciate the service and product offerings,” says CPJ’s Chief Executive Officer, Tom Tyler.

CPJ’s vice-president, marketing and retail trade, Dr. David Lowe, believes that the company will continue to grow for, at least, the next five years. 

CRU Bar Food and Beverage Manager, Shana-Kay Pottinger, who has been catering to customers and well wisher joining in the first anniversary events, says that the celebrations will continue on Friday, highlighting for its guests Sushi delicacies, paired with its favourite CPJ Wines and Spirits at the CRU Bar.

Caribbean Producers Jamaica Limited, known island-wide as CPJ, was founded in 1994, to service the hospitality industry, as an integrated food service distributor. However, recognizing a need for its international wines and spirits to become available to a wider retail market, CPJ formed a retail sales division in 2003 to service this market. The addition of several highly sought-after brands of beverages, wines and spirits has enabled the retail division to quickly become the main area of growth for the company.

 To support the retail trade division the provision of merchandising service was also begun in 2003. The operation extended into Kingston in late 2012.

CPJ is a member of the Hart Group of Companies of Jamaica, which was founded in 1879, and is a diverse conglomerate, nationally recognized for the construction of the Montego Freeport area that includes western Jamaica’s only deep water shipping pier.
