Mandeville, Manchester – Banker Loven McCook is the new president of the Manchester Chamber of Commerce.

McCook, regional manager of Sagicor Bank in Mandeville was elected unopposed at the Chamber’s recent annual general meeting.

He succeeds another banker Janice Brooks who had served as interim head of the organisation since November.

Brooks had stepped in to replace publisher Wendy Freckleton who resigned after three years at the helm in order to enter representational politics. Freckleton is slated to represent the ruling People’s National Party (PNP) in the Knockpatrick Division of Central Manchester, come the next Local Government elections.

Four executive members were also elected unopposed, alongside McCook. They are Doreth Jones, Secretary; Charmaine Dixon, second vice president; Ava Tomlin, Treasurer, and Stewart Barnes, First vice president.

McCook, a native of St Ann who has lived in Mandeville for the past six years with his wife and three children, pledged to do his part in ensuring that Manchester remains “a friendly place to conduct business, work and live.
