MONTEGO BAY, St James — Mid-season champions Reno FC have opened up a two-point lead in the points table in the Jamaica Football Federation Captain’s Bakery and Grill/Charley’s JB Rum Western Confederation Super League after hammering last-placed Norwood Strikers 5-1 at the UDC field on Sunday.

While Reno FC were beating Norwood Strikers, their main threats for the lead, Savannah SC were being held 1-1 at home at Frome by Holland United in a repeat of their first round result.

Reno FC are now on 36 points, two more than Savannah SC, but have played one more game with Savannah SC set to play their rescheduled game against defending champions Wadadah FC on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Tomorrow’s People beat Montego Bay Boys’ Club 2-0 and slipped into third place on goal difference ahead of Sandals Whitehouse which were nipped 1-0 at Granville.

At the UDC field, Reno FC were off to a slow and sloppy start and after Afiba Chambers had given them the lead in the 14th minute, gave up a penalty in the 38th which Odane Campbell converted.

Reno FC, however, quickly reasserted themselves and Tevin Daley scored the first of this double to give them the lead at half-time when he scored in the 43rd minute.

Daley completed his brace when he pushed Reno FC further ahead in the 47th minute, while Omar Johnson scored in the 63rd and Lennard Rankine in time added on to complete the rout.

Savannah SC’s four-game win streak was snapped when Holland came back from a goal down at half-time to earn a 1-1 draw.

Ron Daley scored his eighth goal of the season in the 12th minute to give Savannah SC the lead, but Stephon Bramwell equalised in the 79th minute with his fifth goal of the season.

Tomorrow’s People inched their way into third place after beating Boys’ Club 2-0 at Jarrett Park on goal difference over Sandals Whitehouse, who were beaten. Both are on 28 points from 17 games.

Dalkeith McPherson in the 36th, and Peter Green in the 78th minute scored for Tomorrow’s People, who were beating Boys’ Club for the second time this season after a 4-1 whipping in the first round.

At the Granville Community Centre, Odean Snow’s late goal in the 79th minute, was the difference as they beat the promoted Westmoreland team for a second time this season.

The Sandals goalkeeper has to be blamed for the goal, as the shot that was taken from just inside the 18-yard box slipped through his hands and legs and crossed the line just inside his near post.

In Lucea, the home team continued their fight against relegation, beating Village United 2-0, their fourth win of the campaign, while avenging a first-round loss.

Leron Lewis and Omar Davis scored within two minutes of each other in the first half, in the 16th and 18th minutes, respectively, but Lucea FC are still in 10th place on 16 points, at least two points away from the drop zone.

Defending champions Wadadah FC, who were 6-0 winners over Norwood in mid-week, were held goal-less by Duanvale, a team that had beaten 5-1 in the first round.

The point kept Wadadah FC in fifth place on 26 points, on goal difference ahead of Granville United, both from 16 games played.
