FALMOUTH, Trelawny – REVELLERS at last week’s first anniversary celebration of Peppers Day Party, held at the Vibez Pizza Complex in Falmouth had their enjoyment cut short by a shooting incident.

It is not clear who fired the shots in the air inside the venue, but the scene became chaotic after scores of patrons, who scrambled for cover, jostled to exit the venue.

The day party, which is a relatively new concept to the Trelawny capital, was well attended by nattily dressed patrons who were apparently having a good time before the gunshots rang out.

Earlier, appearances from Fresh Look Models and music provided by selectors Map Head, Junior Killa and DJ Simon under bright sunshine, were well-received.

The entertainment continued well after sundown with live entertainment, featuring several Trelawny acts in the first segment. Mad Alien and Muffi Don highlighted the early goings.

The tempo stepped up a notch after Ryhme Minister was introduced to loud screams from the patrons. He was well- received as he reeled off selections such as Shub Out, One Umbrella, Killaz and Killaz, Push Forward, and Desert Eagles. The patrons went into a frenzy after Popcaan and Blade Steamers joined the Montego Bay-based deejay on stage.

Afterwards, singjay Alkaline was called on stage the crowd went wild as he launched into Respect the Veterans, My Life and Gyal Dem Bad, bringing the curtains down in the live performance segment.

It was moments later, while patrons were being entertained by the selectors in the jam-packed venue, that the shooting incident brought the party to an abrupt end.

After the stampede, empty bottles — some broken — footwear and other items were strewn over the grounds of the commercial complex, which houses several business entities, including Peppers Jerk Centre.
