CD Alexander to sponsor Guineas race days

CD Alexander Company Realty Limited has taken over the sponsorship of the 1000 and 2000 Guineas race days it was announced yesterday at a press conference held at Caymanas Park.

The 1000 and 2000 Guineas are scheduled to be run on separate race days, with the Classic races attracting a purse of $3.25m each. The 1000 and 2000 Guineas races feature the island’s top three-year-old fillies and colts competing over 1600 metres (one mile).

Speaking at the press conference, general manager of CD Alexander Franz Jobson, gave his company’s sponsorship commitment for both race days.

“It is my pleasure to be here today, and to be able to introduce the CD Alexander Reality Limited to the Sport of Kings,” he said.

Jobson also said that sponsoring both Guineas races was never in doubt as the Guineas and his company shared similarities.

“There are some similarities that make this sponsorship sensible. Not necessarily the fact that the directors of our parent company, LP Azar Limited, are obviously passionate about racing. Nor it is my own interest in the sport, but it is the fact that the Guineas is the first Classic of the racing season, much like CD Alexander Realty, founded in 1944, is a known classic in the real estate industry.

“We are confident that this relationship between us and Caymanas Track Limited (CTL) will be one for the ages, we are grateful for the relationship and we look forward to two exciting days of entertainment,” Jobson affirmed.

Deputy chairman at CTL, Andrew Azar, welcomed the sponsorship and said that it was a great move in uplifting racing.

“Mark this as the entry of CD Alexander Realty Limited to the racing fraternity. This is a great sport, a great industry that supports over 1000 jobs and we are here to stay.

“This is about uplifting racing, re-branding and promoting racing. We want to bring back the big man into racing, the owners,” he said.
