ST JAMES, Jamaica — Former champions Granville United will be gunning for a third straight win and a chance to improve their semi-final hopes when they host Savannah SC at the Granville Community Centre as the Jamaica Football Federation’s Captain’s Bakery and Grill/Charley’s JB Rum Western Confederation return-round continues today (Sunday March 23) with a full round of six matches.

Granville United have won back to back games at home, including a rescheduled game against Village United on Thursday and are seeking three wins in an eight-day span, all at home, and are presently in joint third place with defending champions Wadadah FC on 29 points.

Leaders and mid-season champions Reno FC will be home to second to last Duanvale United at Frome; Wadadah FC hosts Holland United in the second game of a double header at the UDC field set to start at 3:30

pm after Norwood Strikers and Montego Bay Boys Club meet in the opening game while Tomorrow’s People travel to a struggling Village United.

Granville United have slowly clawed their way up the standings and are unbeaten over their last 10 games but will meet a Savannah SC team still smarting from their 2-0 loss to Wadadah FC in mid-week their first blemish of the season.

Despite the setback Savannah SC are still five points clear of Granville United, who are on paper the best defensive team in the league, conceding just nine goals in 17 games, just one less than Savannah SC.

Granville United’s collective confidence will be high however, especially playing at home.

Leaders Reno FC should stay at the top after today’s round of matches when they host Duanvale United which have not won in their last four games and were beaten 4-0 in the first round.

A win for Reno FC would also take them closer to securing a place in the semi-finals as the second round winds down.

Sandals Whitehouse, which slipped to fifth after losing at Granville on Sunday, will also be hoping to get back to winning ways when they host Lucea FC which they had beaten 4-1 in the first round and stay in semi-final contention.

Lucea FC however have shown some late spark however and are fighting to avoid relegation but are still at least three points behind where they should be to maintain their place next season.

Wadadah FC has managed to string together a four games unbeaten run despite not being as impressive as expected and faces  a dangerous Holland United team today.

Holland United were off to a fast start but dropped all the way to seventh place and while a semi-final place might still be a long shot, they have a lot to play for and will challenge Wadadah FC at home today.

Tomorrow’s People are hoping to extend Village United’s miserable run where they have lost four straight without scoring a single goal in the process.

Tomorrow’s People, the losing mid-season finalists are within touching distance of a semi-final place and a win today would go a far way of taking them back into the top four depending on other results.
