Each one, reach one seems to be the underlying theme for the Youth for UNESCO project. This is a train the trainers project that seeks to educate young persons in the areas of sexual and reproductive health, environmental sustainability, and social media. These persons who are trained are then sent out to train other persons, thereby continuing the education process.

In a ceremony held on March 21, 2014 at the Knutsford Court Hotel, a total of 154 persons were presented with their certificate of competency having completed their training, facilitated by the Jamaica National Commission for UNESCO. The project was formulated by Paul McFarlene and Stefanie Thomas in an effort to help UNESCO have a more direct impact on the youth of Jamaica.

The certificates were presented by Minister of Youth and Culture Lisa Hanna, who is also the chairperson for the Jamaica National Commission for UNESCO. The minister expressed her satisfaction with the execution of the programme and says she is pleased that young persons are taking advantage of the assistance being offered by UNESCO.

The project hosted training sessions in St Mary, Manchester, and St Andrew. Some participants regarded the sessions as very informative and worthwhile. It is expected that the 154 participants, who are now certified trainers, will train an additional 10 persons each, in the areas of sexual and reproductive health, environmental sustainability, and social media.

The Youth For UNESCO project targeted persons aged 15 to 25 years in schools, community based groups, churches, and youth clubs.
