Police to get four mobile forensic labs
KINGSTON, Jamaica (JIS) — The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) is to receive four forensic laboratories this financial year.
An allocation of J$60 million has been made to purchase the units, as outlined in the 2014/15 Estimates of Expenditure, now before the House of Representatives.
Meanwhile, over 700 police personnel have been trained in leadership, accountability, and capacity-building.
This project is being implemented by the Ministry of National Security with funding from the Department for International Development. It originally lasted from April 2009 to March 2012, with a subsequent extension from March 2012 to March 2015.
Achievements under the project, up to March 2014, included the procurement of crime fighting equipment, such as computers, crime scene tents, fingerprint processing equipment, projectors, and mobile police stations.
