Venomus aims for top
LAST year, singjay Venomus topped dancehall charts with One Drop, a collaboration with deejay QQ.
This year, the entertainer is hoping for even more success with the singles Pretty Pose and Carnival Time.
“Pretty Pose is a song for the ladies in the dancehall. It’s about the poses they make while gyrating their bodies to the music,” said Venomus.
Pretty Pose was recorded in January on the Pan A Knock ‘riddim’ and produced by Stashment Records.
The follow-up, Carnival Time, was released in April.
Born Ismael Thompson, Venomus says his interest in music came at age 13 in the Waterhouse community where he grew up.
In 2004, he recorded his debut single, a collaboration with Demarco and Lizard Hype called Gyal Check Wi Fi Di Daggering.
“This single received steady rotation, and soon after I was being booked by promoters for shows like Camp Fire, West Kingston Jamboree, MoBay Kite Festival and Champions in Action,” Venomus told the Jamaica Observer.
Some of his other singles include Me She Love, Drop Dat, You See Dem and Give Thanks Fi Life.
Venomus says he is currently working with Stashment Records and Blaze it Up Productions on several projects.
