Jerk comes to ‘Philly’
ANOTHER event highlighting Jamaican jerked food will be held in the United States this summer.
The inaugural Philadelphia Jerk Festival is scheduled for June 22 at Cobbs Creek Recreational Grounds.
According to a release from organisers Jabari Production Event Series, it “will be a family-oriented festival, and aims to showcase a broad variety of Caribbean jerk foods, music, and culture”.
Grammy-winning deejay Beenie Man and singer Sanchez are expected to perform. The growing popularity of jerked food in the United States has resulted in an emergence of jerk festivals throughout that country.
There are annual events in major cities such as Miami, New York, Atlanta and Los Angeles.
