Police arrest two suspects in St Ann murders
ST ANN, Jamaica — The Ocho Rios police have charged two people in relation to three murders, including a double murder, recently committed in the area.
An 18-year-old is one of the two charged. Roshane Smikkle also called Bossy, of Frazerwood, St Mary is charged with the murder of 18-year-old Moneague College student Xavier James. James was reportedly stabbed on the night of Saturday, May 24.
The police have also held a suspect in the brazen attack and murder of a truck driver and his assistant who were shot and killed about 1:00 pm on Sunday, June 1. Dead are Robert Blake from Steer Town and Lime Hall in St Ann, and his sideman Horace Hamilton of Steer Town.
Both men were reportedly in the Pimento Walk community making deliveries when a group of men opened fire on the truck in which they were travelling. Blake reportedly lost control of the vehicle which hit a pedestrian before overturning. The gunmen then proceeded to climb onto the truck and open fire. Both men reportedly died at the scene. The pedestrian was admitted to hospital with serious injuries.
Charged for the murders is Mascino Davis, also called Nal or Gussie, a 31-year-old unemployed man of Pimento Walk.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Throyville Haughton, head of the Ocho Rios police said investigations are still ongoing as the police work to apprehend the other people involved in the attack.
“It is unfortunate that we were not able to prevent these murders, but we are working tirelessly to bring the perpetrators to justice,” he said.
