Tatoo artist charged in cabbie’s murder on bail
MANCHESTER, Jamaica — Thirty-year-old Ryon Samuels who was charged for murder last month in relation to the death of a taxi operator in Manchester was granted bail.
Samuels was offered bail in the sum of $500,000 when he made his second appearance in the Mandeville Residents’ Magistrate court last Friday (June 27).
Samuels was charged for the stabbing death of Rupert Taylor, 49, better known as ‘Cat.’
Taylor was reportedly attacked at his home in Belretiro on June 2.
About 12:15am Taylor returned home after work, was followed inside by the perpetrators lying in wait and a struggle ensued during which he was stabbed, police say.
According to the Manchester police the injured taxi operator managed to escape from the house but collapsed in a nearby potato field and died.
Samuels, a tattoo artist, will make his next court appearance on September 8.
Two other suspects are still being sought for Taylor’s murder.
