When did you start your career as a jockey?

I started my career as a jockey on September 8, 2012 but I was involved in racing for quite a while before. My father (Ronald Blake) was also a jockey so it was in the blood but being at the track on regular basis I developed a liking for horses so the decision was very easy for me.

Which horse was your first winner?

My first winner came aboard Pocket Money for trainer Winchester McIntosh over 1,820metres. That was a wonderful win that I won’t forget. Visiting the winners’ enclosure for the first time was a very special feeling and one which I want to happen more often.

Which horse was your longest odds winner?

My longest odds winner was on the same horse that I won my first race on, Pocket Money at 53-1. I really did enjoy that win, the punters did not gave me a chance in the betting, and I knew that once my horse turned for home comfortable on the lead, then it would have been how far I was going to win by.

Which is the horse that you have ridden?

Well to be honest, the best horse that I have ridden so far in my career is Sterling Gold. Just say that he always gives me of his best.

Which is the best horse you have seen race at Caymanas Park?

I have seen a lot of talented horses but I would say that the current Horse of the Year, Princess Popstar is the best horse that I have seen race at Caymanas Park. For a two-year-old to win all her races in really fast times, the same as Grade One horses, that alone speaks volumes of her abilities. Plus two of those times were in records. Although she had a minor setback with injuries, I believe that she would have won all the Classic races this year.

Who influenced your career the most?

Since I am in racing everyone has been good to me but I want to single out my apprentice master, Phillip Feanny. Feanny has really been good to me, he supported me well, his guidance and encouragement have helped and for that I say thank you.
