Retired Region Four education officers honoured for years of service
PORT ANTONIO, Portland – The Ministry of Education Region Four recently recognised four of its retired education officers who have given a combined 172 years service to the education sector.
The honorees were Dr Annmarie Hall, Earl Christian, Maureen Cunningham-Johnson and Audrey Harris-Clarke.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education Elaine Foster-Allen commended the officers for their years of service and thanked them for investing wisely in the nation’s children and its education system.
“We are celebrating the wise and prudent servants who over many years have done so much and so well for education. Each came with different talents and ability to serve the master, the children and the communities and education in general,” Foster-Allen said.
She pointed out that being in education is not an easy task, especially given the moral decay in the society, even as she lauded the education officers for having given of their best over the years.
“Each of you were given talents or abilities, and you put them to good use, you invested them, you made a profit. You may not be the inheritor of that profit but so many children, young people in the education system have all benefited and inherited,” she said.
