Manchester businessman shot dead

MANCHESTER, Jamaica — A Manchester businessman was Thursday night (July 24) shot dead.

He is identified as Birkley Bennett, 61, of Fine Grass, near to Christiana in the North eastern end of the parish.

Reports from the Christiana police are that about 7:15 pm Bennett and four other people were at a house when they were pounced upon by armed men who opened fire hitting them.

Bennett reportedly succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment in hospital.

Two of the injured persons are now admitted in stable condition while the other two were treated and released.

Police investigations continue.
