MBU’s Star Baller wants to meet Bolt
TUCKER, St James
As he prepares to lead the Montego Bay United (MBU) attack in the defence of their Red Stripe Premier League title starting on September 7, striker Dino Williams is focussed on all round improvements.
Williams scored five times in MBU’s final three games including a hat-trick in the finals to lead his team to a 5-2 spanking of pre-game favourites Waterhouse FC at the National Stadium.
And, while he looks forward to the next nine months of the gruelling Red Stripe Premier League the speedy marksman has one wish away from the football field, to meet his sporting idol, triple World Record holder Usain Bolt.
Williams, who has used his speed to cause headaches for defenders, lists Bolt as his favourite sports star. But he has never had the chance to meet the world’s fastest man.
An injury-affected season saw Williams score one goal in the regular season before exploding for five goals over the two semi-final legs against outgoing champions Harbour View and the finals.
Williams played a friendly for the Reggae Boys, against Cuba in Montego Bay two years ago, and toured with the national senior men’s team in their four games stint just prior to the start of the FIFA World Cup.
He recently returned from a trial stint with an American club after suffering a twisted ankle while in training.
