NCB boss Hylton heads committee studying tertiary education funding
MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica — Minister of Education Rev Ronald Thwaites has announced the establishment of a committee to study the medium and long term funding of tertiary education in Jamaica.
According to Thwaires, the committee, which will be chaired by chief executive officer of the National Commercial Bank, Patrick Hylton, will be made up of the “leadership of the financial sector, the university and the credit unions”.
Thwaites outlined that the committee is necessary because “the Student’s Loan Bureau can only manage so much”.
He was speaking earlier today during the second day of the three-day 50th Jamaica Teachers’ Association (JTA) Annual General now underway at the Hilton Rose Hall Hotel and Spa in Montego Bay, St James.
