Man to be tried today for murder of former JUTC boss
KINGSTON, Jamaica — A man is to be tried in the Home Circuit Court today Monday, November 10 for the 2008 murder of then head of the Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) Douglas Chambers.
The accused, Andre Bryan, was arrested two years after Chambers was gunned down in June 2008 in Spanish Town, St Catherine.
Bryan, 30, is from a Jones Avenue address in Spanish Town. He was unemployed at the time of his arrest and was reportedly connected to the Spanish Town-based Klansman gang.
Chambers was murdered in front of the Michael Manley Drive branch of the JUTC at Twickenham Park in Spanish Town after he had left a meeting to smoke a cigarette.
He was shot repeatedly in the head by two gunmen, one of whom was armed with a high-powered rifle. The other had a .45 handgun.
The killers escaped in bushes on the outskirts of a community known as Fish Ground.
