17-y-o St Catherine girl shot dead
KINGSTON, Jamaica — A former student of the Central High School in May Pen, Clarendon was on Tuesday night shot dead and a companion shot and injured by an unknown assailant in St Catherine.
The deceased has been identified as 17-year-old Yvonne Roofe of an Old Harbour address in St Catherine.
Preliminary reports reaching OBSERVER ONLINE are that Roofe and a companion were walking through a track, in the vicinity of Capture Land about 9:00 pm when they were approached by a man who opened gunfire hitting them before escaping on foot.
It is said that Roofe was shot in the head, and was pronounced dead at hospital.
The condition of her associate is not known at this time.
