Mobay boys club go for four straight
MONTEGO BAY, St James — A resurgent Montego Bay Boys’ Club will go after a fourth straight win and possibly a top four position in the Jamaica Football Federation’s Charley’s JB Rum Western Confederation Super League when they host promoted Salt Marsh United at the UDC Field on Sunday.
Boys Club are coming off a big 6-2 win over Jericho Rangers in Lucea on Tuesday and will be full of confidence going up against a team that has raised a few eyebrows since earning promotion.
Three games are to be played Sunday as Granville FC travels to Elleston Wakeland to face Village United and last placed Violet Kickers hosts Holland United at Green Pond High.
Boys Club has been unbeaten since signing former Reno FC striker Rushane Reid who scored a hat-trick on Tuesday as the St James club led 2-0 at half-time before five goals were scored in a 35-minute span in the second half.
They are up to sixth place on 12 points and trail Salt Marsh on goal difference.
Salt Marsh meanwhile have drawn two of their last three games and seem to be slowing down after shooting up the tables with a series of good results between late last year and early this year.
Granville are in fourth place on 13 points and face Village United, which suffered a big loss to Beaches Negril.
Village United’s form away from home is in stark contrast to their form at Elleston Wakeland and Granville must be prepared to work hard if they are to come away with a good result.
Both Violet Kickers and Holland are in free fall and are separated by only a point and the result in the game will be decided on which team makes fewer mistakes.
Meanwhile on Tuesday, Beaches Negril scored their first win of the season as Kemar Dawkins scored all four goals in their 4-0 win over Village United. Dawkins scored a first half hat-trick, netting in the 19th, 29th and 32nd minutes before adding a fourth in the 70th minute.
Sandals Whitehouse made it seven wins from seven starts beating Holland United 3-2 at Elleston Wakeland Centre with Dervin Campbell scoring the winner in extra time after they had to come back from a goal down on two occasions.
Granville FC handed Savannah SC their first loss of the season beating the Westmoreland club 2-1 at Granville while Javier Peak scored twice for Wadadah FC to beat Violet Kickers 3-1 at the UDC Field.
