NDRC Night of Champions
THE National Drag Racing Circuit (NDRC) celebrated its champions at its awards presentation for its recently completed 2014 drag racing season at the Valencia Courtyard, Spanish Court Hotel in New Kingston, recently.
“We have had 11 events so far with Nestlé Supligen as our title sponsor and we will continue into 2015,” Stephen Gunter, NDRC executive member, told Auto.
Drag racing, under the NDRC has seen a massive resurgence at the Vernamfield Motorsports Park, Clarendon with Gunter explaining that they have seen a 96 per cent increase in competitor participation.
“The NDRC has had an average of 121 drivers at each of our events, with a peak of 136 at our finale in December 2014,” he said.
The night saw Andrian McCalla crowned Street 16 champion. Super Street 15 went to Jonathan Chin. Michael Allijohn took home Super Street 14 honours. As part of 2014 Team Champions Swiftune, Jason-Peter Moses and Nicholo Hamilton won the Pro Street classes 13 and 12 classes respectively. Charles Maxwell was the Pro Modified 11 champion, with Pro Modified 10 going to Euguene Grandison. Winning Pro Race 9 was Michael Williams who briefly held the four-wheel-drive record.
The fastest man for the night was Adrian McLymont, not only heading home as Pro Race 8 champion, but putting in multiple record-breaking performances all year to finally set the a new rear-wheel drive (Doorslammer) V8 record with a 8.075 second pass at 181.74 mph in hid Ford Mustang at the NDRC’s December meet.
