The Simpkin Project for VP Records
CALIFORINA-based reggae band The Simpkin Project has inked a multi-album deal with VP Records Dub Rockers Imprint. The signing took place earlier last week.
In a release posted on the label’s website, VP Records’ marketing director, Michael McGraw said he was excited about the new venture.
“Their natural sound and level of musicianship exemplifies the qualities of a timeless sound that makes the music so enduring for multiple generations,” he said.
The members of The Simpkin Project were just as elated about the deal. “We love reggae music period. It is what we were all raised on. Strictly roots, rock and reggae music. What other genre of music exists solely as the vehicle that carries with it messages of peace, positive vibes, empowerment and spiritualis?” lead vocalist Phil Simpkin said.
The release further stated that the band is currently working on a new album which is slated to be released later this year. The Orange County-based band also plans to go on a promotional tour of the United States in support of the album.
The Simpkin Project was formed in 2003. In addition to Simpkin, the band consists of Shawn Taylor, Sean Kennedy, Sergio Sandoval, Eric Riegler and Jules Luna.
