Your Under The Dryer team was on the spot as Olympian Sherone Simpson visited her long-time friend and hairstylist Tanecia Thompson at Salon Phoenix, 9-11 Phoenix Avenue, to get styled for five fab looks. Thompson shows you how to get all the looks in one sitting.

Hair Tip from the Stylist

Tanecia Thompson – “Trimming hair ends regularly promotes healthy hair and improves body and bounce. I suggest trimming at least once per month and treating hair with a protein treatment.”

Hair Tip from Sherone

Sherone Simpson – “Get a hair treatment once per month and wrap hair nightly with a silk wrap or scarf.”

Starter steps for achieving the looks below:

1. Start by washing the hair using a Mizani Botanifying Conditioning shampoo.

2. Apply Mizani Moisturfuse moisturising conditioner, then rinse.

3. Apply Inoar Argan Oil treatment to the hair for silk and shine.

4. Roller-set hair and go under the dryer for an hour.

5. Blow-dry roller marks from the hair using a round hairbrush.

How to… Loose Waves look:

1. Create soft waves using a 1 1/4″ flat iron – perfect for creating soft curls.

2. Curl bangs outward to soften the look and shape the face.

3. Curl sections of the hair in one direction to get a constant wave pattern.

How to… Romantic Chignon look:

1. Section the crown.

2. Part sections of the hair at the top, sweep the sides and back to your desired section as you’re about to create your low-slung bun.

3. Secure hair in a side ponytail.

4. Pull sections of the now-secured ponytail to create a messy chignon.

How to… High Bun look:

1. Smooth strands toward your crown using a boar bristle brush.

2. Brush the sides and back into a top ponytail.

3. Using bobby pins, secure sections of the ponytail underneath a layer of hair.

4. Smooth flyaways with a holding spray of your choice.

How to… Centre-parted Tight Curls look:

1. Part hair down the centre from the hairline to the nape of the neck.

2. Using a 1″ curling iron, curl hair in alternating directions.

3. Run your fingers through the curls for finish.

How to… Luscious Side Curls:

1. Apply steps 1-3 above.

2. Section hair to the left.

3. Secure hair with bobby pins.
