Gulf Strikers to begin hunt for LIME Street Futsal title
THE inaugural National Street Futsal competition, which kicks off in March, saw registration entries close on Friday for St Thomas and Portland and expectations are high for both parishes.
The competition, hosted by telecommunications firm LIME, will see 16 teams, including 2014 Street Football champions Gulf Strikers, facing off in St Thomas.
Bath Sports Club take on Allstar Youths; Delta Force Football Club clash with Danvers Pen Football Club; Port Morant All-Stars tackle Dunkenfield Gunners; Ness Castle Kool Kat oppose Blackout; Wildlife compete against St Thomas Merchandizer; Airy Castle Strikers take on Port Morant United; York United versus Street Ballas; and Real Morant Sports & Social challenge Gulf Strikers.
Over in Portland, Reggaeland Football Academy battle God a God All Stars; Neat Cut Players match wits with Barbers; Jervis Strikers oppose FC Barcelona; United Striker clash JOP; Youngsters Family look to subdue French Strikers; Maidstone Strikers tackle Eastern Strikers; HTOD FC take on CC Free School; Fellowship Fury look to close out Super Boys.
On February 6, teams in the parishes of Trelawny, St Ann and Clarendon will begin registering at Core Communications on Lower Parade Street in Falmouth; Island Plaza in Ocho Rios; and LIME May Pen at the Bargain Centre on Main Street, May Pen, respectively. Teams are required to purchase $1000 credit with their applications.
The tournament will comprise four outfield players and a goalkeeper in the competition that will feature bigger goals than last year’s LIME Street Football.
More than 250 teams from all 14 parishes and the municipality of Portmore will do battle over 10 weeks to determine who will become the first LIME National Futsal champions and win over a million dollars in cash.
