Kingston and St Andrew primary schools football semis on today
MELROSE, along with Mona, Pembroke Hall and Harbour View will contest the semi-finals of the 2015 Kingston and St Andrew Primary Schools Football Competition today at the St Richard’s school.
Melrose will first take on Mona at 11:00 am, while Pembroke Hall will go up against Harbour View at midday. The winners will meet in the final later this month at a date and venue to be named.
Melrose, Pembroke Hall and Harbour View are yet to taste defeat this season. The Melrose team have a perfect win record, while Pembroke Hall and Harbour View have drawn a game each.
Melrose reached today’s semi-finals by defeating Dunrobin 4-1 in their quarter-finals knockout through goals from Tacian Campbell in the 42nd and 49th minutes, Romaine Jones in the 13th, and Tajay Tomlinson in the 15th minutes. Mario Grant scored the losers’ goal in the 19th minute.
Mona came out winners in their quarter-finals with an exciting 8-7 shoot-out ahead of Rousseau, after both teams had played to a 2-2 draw at full time.
In the 60-minute encounter, Malix Giscombe in the seventh and 37th minutes scored for Mona, while Ajani Saddler netted both goals for Rousseau in the ninth and 40th minutes.
Harbour View with goals from Remeal Allman and Omeal Powell tagged Tavares Gardens 2-0 in their quarter-final knockout last Monday.
Meanwhile, during the league preliminary rounds, the schools were divided into four groups involving 23 teams, with the winners and runners-up advancing to the knockout semi-finals.
Group One was won by Melrose with 12 points, with Rousseau finishing second with nine points. Mona captured Group Two with seven points with Dunrobin the runners-up with six points.
Tavares Gardens emerged winners of Group Three with nine points, followed by St Richard’s with seven points, while Group Four was won by Pembroke Hall with 10 points ahead of second-placed Harbour View on nine points.
