JustBet gives Windies 20-1 shot at lifting World Cup

SUPREME Ventures, through its JustBet sports betting brand, has listed the West Indies at huge odds of $20 to win the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup, which bowled off in Australia and New Zealand yesterday.

This means that individuals who place a $1,000 wager on the team from the Caribbean to win the trophy, will get paid $20,000 if they were to spring the upset and win it all. The West Indies team has not won the tournament since 1979 and has not made a Cricket World Cup final since 1983. They are currently ranked at eighth in the One-Day International world rankings. The West Indies team will bow into action in the Group stage against Ireland tomorrow at 5:00 pm (Jamaica time).

Meanwhile, JustBet has listed four-time Cricket World Cup champions and 2015 tournament co-host Australia as favourites to win this year’s staging. Australia have been listed at odds of $2.75 to win the World Cup, which means that a $1,000 bet on the Aussies to win, will pay $2,750 if they go on to lift the trophy. Australia are the number one-ranked team in the One-Day International world rankings and won the trophy in 1987, 1999, 2003 and 2007.

Powerhouse South Africa have been listed at odds of $4.00 to win, New Zealand and defending champions India are each at odds of $9.00, England and Sri Lanka are each at odds of $10.00 and Pakistan are at odds of $15.00.

Zimbabwe, Bangladesh, Ireland, Afghanistan, Scotland and the United Arab Emirates have each been listed at odds of $300.00 to win the competition.

JustBet will offer wagering on every match in the tournament, from the group stage, right through to the final on Saturday, March 28.

JustBet is also offering exciting odds on which teams will make the semi-finals, which teams will make the final, which continent the World Cup champion will emerge from, who will be the West Indies top run scorer and who will be the West Indies top batsman, as well as odds on which stage of the tournament the West Indies will be eliminated.

“The World Cup is cricket’s big show and JustBet is again pleased and excited to be offering the top betting offerings on the tournament,” said Andrei Roper, senior marketing officer for sports betting at Supreme Ventures.

The matches will be played at 5:00 pm, 8:00 pm and 10:30 pm local time, which gives fans a great opportunity to watch all the action live on television or at their favourite sports bars and hang-out spots, many of which offer JustBet sports betting.
