LIME Street Futsal teams from St Ann, St Bess, Westmoreland named
TELECOMMUNICATIONS firm LIME announced the selected teams from another set of parishes set to compete in the inaugural LIME Street Futsal competition scheduled to begin in late March. Teams were announced for St Ann, St Elizabeth and Westmoreland.
From St Ann, the match-ups will see Walkerswood taking on Invaders FC; Limehall opposing Beverly FC; Heartland versus Riders; Union Strikers against Famous; Priory battling Blessed Strikers; Bamboo Police Youth Club clashing with Lewis Strikers FC; Arsenal FC tackling Faith’s Pen; and Upliftment Strikers locking horns with Parry Town FC.
From St Elizabeth, Devastators clash with Buz Ruck; Treasure Beach FC oppose New River; STETHS FC take on Leeds Gunners; Sparta FC versus Infinity Strikers; Rock Star United tackle Dunkley FC; Gego FC battle Untouchable Strikers; Roxx Star FC face Maggoty All-Stars; and Rio Strikers meet Real Treasure Beach.
From Westmoreland, match-ups will include Corner Strikers clashing with Muckily; Grange Hill Alliance facing Track Star; Park FC taking on Harmony FC; Scorpion & Friends opposing Superstar; Golden Touch United battling Gully Bank Strikers; Negril Lynch Top Lions trading shots with Fiya Spartan; New York Avenue going up against Negril Lions; and Corner Kickers meeting Little London FC.
On February 20, teams from Portmore, St James and Hanover will begin registering. Locations are at LIME Portmore Mall and Fone Frenzy in the Bay West Shopping Centre as well as JC’s Communication at Seaview Pharmacy in Lucea. The final opportunity for registration will be on February 27.
LIME Spanish Town in the Sagicor Plaza, Record Plaza in Tropical Plaza on Constant Spring Road and Royal Jewellers at 81b King Street will be taking entries for teams in St Catherine as well as Kingston and St Andrew.
From the teams registered, 15 teams are randomly selected from each parish. There will be three parish draws each week. Each draw is filmed and posted on LIME’s Facebook page 24 hours after its completion. The 15 randomly selected teams plus last year’s parish champions from the LIME Street Football Competition will battle for the parish title.
Each parish champion plus a wild card team selected from the best second-placed teams will then play-off for the national title which includes a cash prize of over $1million.
