AFTER more than three decades in the music industry, roots-reggae singer Black Thunder is celebrating his biggest achievement.

His self-produced, original single — World Crisis — sits atop the Mikey B Top 10 Reggae Chart on WAVS 1170 FM radio station in South Florida. The song, which has spent 11 weeks on the chart, leapt to the number one spot last week.

“To Jah be the glory! I am overwhelmed to finally score a number one on an America chart because it is not easy, especially when you are on your own,” he told the Jamaica Observer.

“Big up all the fans in Jamaica, America, Europe… all over the globe, who have supported me over the years.”

World Crisis is a song highlighting the economic and social issues facing the world. The set includes Reggae Warrior, and I and I Love Jah.

A native of Clarendon, Black Thunder has made western Jamaica his home since the early 1980s. He recently returned to the island after of a successful two-month tour of Europe geared at  promoting his album of the same name.

He is set to leave the island next month to perform on the South West Festival in Austin, Texas.
