MANDEVILLE, Manchester — Downs were the biggest movers after the latest round of games in the JB Rum/Captain’s Bakery Manchester Major League. The former Super League side registered a come-from-behind 3-1 victory over Porus in south Manchester at the weekend.

They trailed to Kemar Nation’s goal after 29 minutes, but two strikes in quick succession from Shane Simpson (42nd) and Gary McDonald (45th) completed the turnaround before half-time.

Another goal by Christopher Dyer secured the three points and back-to-back 3-1 victories for Downs, who moved three places up to fourth on 15 points.

Porus, one of three teams on 12 points, dropped two places down to eight after suffering their sixth defeat in 10 games.

In the top of the table clash at Spalding, Hillstars blanked George’s Valley 2-0 to open up a five-point gap at the top of the table.

Both goals were scored in the second half, with Jermaine Green unlocking Valley’s defence in the 53rd minute. But the leaders had to wait until the final moments of the contest to seal their sixth win of the season when Omar Nembhard netted in stoppage time.

With the win Hillstars strengthened their bid for a semi-final spot as they improved to 21 points, five better than joint second place teams Comfort and Valley, who are listed as third due to an inferior goal difference. Comfort leapfrogged Valley despite ending nil-all with Villa United, who are ninth on 12 points.

Meanwhile, defending champions New Green, also on 12 points, twice came from behind to earn a 2-2 draw with basement team Mile Gully (seven points) at the Brooks Park Sports Complex on Saturday.

Kevaughn Isaacs tapped home from close range to give the visiting Mile Gully outfit the lead after only six minutes. New Green equalised 20 minutes later through Orlando Campbell, only for Rushane McClymont to restore Mile Gully’s advantage with a deflected free kick in the 35th minute. But Campbell, with a fine individual effort, returned to complete his brace and earn the hosts a share of the points.

In other games, Alligator Pond (11) handed Ricam Academy (14) a third straight defeat, courtesy of a Kenji Thomas goal, while Greenvale United (15) and Kendal (10) ended goalless.
