A scare for Paul Francis
After doing all the hard work, jockey Paul Francis looked all set to notch another winner on the Edward Hamilton-trained Teisha’s Dream in the fifth race on Ash Wednesday over the five-furlong straight course.
Then out of the blue with just about 50 metres to go, right in front of the large holiday crowd, something spooked Teisha’s Dream causing the filly to swerve, sending Francis to the ground. Francis was quickly attended to by members of the race day medical team. Fortunately he only received bruises on his legs, but was not able to ride for the rest of the race meeting.
OBSERVER photographer Joseph Wellington was at the track and captured the event.
