LIME’s I Run Dis Town challenge series back with a bang
TRACK and field fans across the island will have the opportunity to win cash for the high school of their choice when LIME’s I Run Dis Town — Fastest Man & Woman challenge kicks off this today.
The top male and female competitors at each of the five planned stagings will win $25,000 to assist with ‘Champs’ preparations at the secondary school of their choice, while also winning a similar amount for themselves.
Scheduled to begin at Royes Plaza in Junction, St Elizabeth, LIME’s head of channel marketing and sponsorships Kim Lee says the event is a continuation of the company’s highly anticipated
build-up to the ISSA Grace Kennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships.
“Each year we try to come up with innovative ways to get our customers and the public at large excited about the games. The LIME I Run Dis Town challenge will allow persons to provide tangible support for the schools that will participate in this year’s champions, while encouraging friendly rivalry among athletics fans,” Lee explained.
“Last year this event generated much buzz in the locations we visited. This year we have increased the individual prize money, while also adding the incentive of cash for the schools selected by the winning participants,” she added.
Persons of all ages are invited to test their speed on a 20-metre speed track that will be erected in select town centres.
Similar I Run Dis Town challenges are planned for February 27 in Savanna-la-Mar, Westmoreland; March 6 in Port Maria, St Mary; March 13 in Morant Bay, St Thomas and March 20 in May Pen, Clarendon.
As preparations for the region’s largest secondary school athletics showdown get into high gear, the company will be providing financial assistance of over $3 million to schools through various initiatives.
