Mangoes and their benefits

This rich fruit is known for its unique taste, smell and vibrant colour. There are many different kinds of mangoes from East Indian to Julie. In India ripe mangoes are popularly known as safeda and is the country’s national fruit. It is also the national fruit of Pakistan and the Philippines and the national tree of Bangladesh.

Mangoes are usually used in cuisine whether unripened or ripened. It adds to the presentation of a meal and it is also used in juices, jams or jellies.

Mangoes have been named the most widely consumed fruit in the world.

Here are some health benefits of the fruit:

1: Mangoes contain antioxidants that protects the body against colon, breast and prostate cancer.

2: Mangoes help to unclog the pores and is suitable for all skin types.

3: Mangoes has high levels of vitamin C and fibres that help to lower cholesterol levels. Fresh mangoes are rich sources of potassium, which is an important component of cell and body fluids that helps to control heart rate and blood pressure.

4: This delicious fruit boosts the digestive function of the body by burning additional calories, helping in weight loss.

5: Mangoes help in promoting good eye sight, fights dry eyes and also prevent night blindness.

6: Mangoes contains enzymes that help in breaking down protein. The fibrous nature of mango helps in digestion and elimination. It is is rich in pre-biotic dietary fibre, vitamins and minerals.

7: This fruit is rich in glutamine acid, which is an important protein for concentration and memory.

8: Mangoes are rich in iron making them a great natural solution for people suffering from anemia.
