FORMER champion jockey Shane Ellis continued to show his dexterity in the saddle with another superb ride aboard All Correct to win the Bonnie Blue Flag Trophy feature at Caymanas Park yesterday.

The three-year-olds and upward Open Allowance event, which was contested over 1,820 metres, was to perpetuate the memory of Bonnie Blue Flag, who won the first ever Horse of the Year award in 1964 and then again in 1965.

Trained by 14-time champion Wayne DaCosta for owner The Velvet Glove, All Correct (Storm Craft – Royal Pizza by Royal Minister) was held off the early pace set by Fortuneonehundred (Romario Saunders up) followed by Franfield (Dane Nelson astride) and stable-companion Royal Vibes (Robert Halledeen aboard) going around the club house turn.

Cruising nicely approaching the final bend, Ellis then asked All Correct to go, and the dark bay colt responded well and began to round horses before taking over the lead at the top of the lane and romped home comfortably by two-and-a-half lengths over Franfield, Fortuneonehundred and Uncle Taf.

Ellis, on the other hand, said that he was surprised with the manner of victory by All Correct.

“He ran big today (yesterday). I was surprised with how he beat the field as I thought that we would just come and beat them by half-length, but he just blew past them and cruised home,” the 41-year-old Ellis told the Sunday Observer.

Racing continues on Wednesday with nine races. First post is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
