Seba, Heights, MoBay U-21 advance in Captain’s KO
MONTEGO BAY, St James — Seba FC, Heights FC and Montego Bay United Under-21 all advanced to the second round of the St James Football Association Captain’s Bakery and Grill Knockout after wins in a triple-header at Jarrett Park on Thursday.
Seba FC beat Norwood Strikers 3-2 on penalty kicks after playing out a 1-1 regulation and extra time score, Montego Bay United Under-21 edged Faulklands SC 1-0, while Heights beat Clubs Stars 2-0 in extra time after being held 0-0 after 90 minutes.
They joined eight other teams that had qualified earlier in the week.
In the all-Senior League game, Marvin Wright scored in the fifth minute for Norwood Strikers, but Asornie Binger equalised in the 53rd minute. After the teams failed to score in the remainder of regulation and extra time, it came down to penalties where Seba won 3-2.
Tavon Barnes’ early goal, coming in the eighth minute, took Montego Bay United Under-21 through as they beat Faulkland FC 1-0.
In the first game of the day, Senior League team Heights FC escaped with a 2-0 win over a wasteful Club Stars of Division One.
After playing out a 0-0 scoreline in regulation time, Jason Taylor scored twice in extra period in the 105th and 120th minute to send Heights FC through to the next round.
